Michael Berry - Ricky's Father The Michael Berry show was named this year's " Best Local Radio Talk Show " by the Houston Press. Readers of the popular Houston blog " The Insite " voted him " Best Talk Show Host in Houston." Michael describes his show as a "controversial discussion of issues ranging from politics to pop culture." He says, "I want people to discuss openly what they typically think, but can't say. Very rarely do you get the opportunity to have frank and open discussion with someone you don't know, " he says. "We self-select our friends, typically based on the fact that they agree with us. I want listeners to be exposed to ideas they might not ever be exposed to, so there is a true exchange of ideas." Due to term limits, Michael recently completed his final term on Houston's City Council. He served as the first Republican Mayor Pro Tem in Houston history. He was elected three times to represent the entire City of Houston, serving as " at-large " councilman. He is particularly proud of the support he has earned from firefighters and police officers, being named " Councilman of the Year " by the Houston Police Officers Union. His brother, Chris, is a law enforcement officer. Michael Berry is originally from Orange, Texas, the most southeastern Texas city. He has been married 15 years to Nandita Berry, a lawyer who hails from Hyderabad, India. Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, and he earned a Masters of Laws & Letters from The University of Nottingham in Nottingham, England. He was named to the exclusive list of Five Outstanding Young Texans. As former Houston Chronicle political columnist Kristen Mack said about him, " Michael Berry has made it a practice to provoke. Love him or hate him, most people who know him have an opinion about him. And he's not hesitant to express himself. Michael is the co-host of the Face-Off segment on Fox 26 News. |
